Overview | "Time Being" | AHA Holiday Pop Up
Arcilesi | Homberg Fine Art is pleased to present an overview of this Show
Arcilesi | Homberg Fine Art is pleased to present Time Being, a group Holiday show featuring works by:
Vincent Arcilesi, Violet Baxter, Nicholas Busigo, John Breiner, Victor Cox, Maria Dimanshtein, Rachel Fucheck, Jordan Hollender, Laura Murray, Suyeon Na, Roger Nelson, Margaret Roleke, Nola Romano, Jesse Scaturro & Adam Taye.
As 2017 comes to an end, we may find our morals in question, our civilities exhausted and our empathy towards one another in limbo. It is during these times of great query, that our inner child is awakened. We take pleasure viewing the bombastic, the whimsical, the fantastical and the comedic, enabling us to elevate and circumvent ourselves to another place or time, feeling child like and free of affliction. Through painting, sculpture and photography we are in the Time Being.

Overview - "SECOND DREAM" - the new AHA Fine Art Show

"SECOND DREAM" 3 |
"SECOND DREAM" 4 |
"SECOND DREAM" 5 |
"SECOND DREAM" 6 |
Opening Reception: Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 6 – 9pm
On exhibit: September 20 - October 1, 2017
Francesca Arcilesi and Norma Homberg in collaboration with Spring Natural Restaurant, are pleased to present Second Dream on Thursday, September 28th from 6-9PM at Spring Natural on 98 Kenmare Street, Lower Level in Manhattan, NY. The exhibition will feature a selection of photographs, collage, paintings, video installation, and mixed media.
Second Dream suggests the idea of a dream within a dream, quite similar to a mirror within a mirror. In history a “Second Dream” has been examined repeatedly offering the idea that there is something within our universe that is greater than us. The works displayed explore the importance and relevance of dreams, demonstrating how each artist identifies and interprets these inexplicable illusive journeys. Collectively, the work on view evokes enigmatic feelings of dislocation and strangeness, depicting a combination of abstraction, surrealism and realism, allowing the viewer to navigate intrinsically into their own Second Dream.

"I COULD NEVER LOVE YOU THIS MUCH" by Gregory Berg
On View: March 31- April 6, 2016
Curated by Melissa McCaig-Welles and Rodrigo Valles
NEW YORK, NY (March 3, 2016)
Feet dangling over skyscrapers, mysterious innards of the subway tunnels, bright lights and dazzling colors, ruins of century old theaters and abandoned psychiatric wards; it's terrifying and it's beautiful, it wrenches us by the collar and thrusts us into a world that is dangerous, dirty and treacherous.
Berg is successful at taking us to this place, well versed on the complicated technicalities of getting these images, be it from scaling buildings, finding the secret entrances to tunnels or the secret door that leads to these exquisite destinations. It's awe inducing, overwhelming and spectacular, but it's the raw beauty and intense emotion that Berg transcends from these moments that makes this experience so extraordinary and unique.
In "I Could Never Love You This Much" a series of photographs are a study of urban explorations. The loneliness is transformed into hope, the grittiness becomes beauty and the silence is tranquility. All through the use of natural light, Berg's perspective and all-encompassing composition we see beauty where one might expect to find sadness and bravery in where one might expect to find fear. It's the unexpected beauty that he is able to capture that makes this an experience beyond just a photograph.
Gregory Berg is 22 years old. He started taking pictures from his 35mm film camera at the age of 13, he began urban exploration when he was 18. Since then he has captured the worlds attention with these images, gaining a following on Instagram of 70,000 followers and quickly growing. His works are being collected and shown in galleries and fairs around the country alongside the works of legendary pioneers and the spearheads of today's New Contemporary Art Movement.

"THE ARTPOCALYPSE" - the new Solo Show by Jon ALLEN
This will be JON ALLEN's second solo show in New York. His work combines elements of graphic design, sculpture, drawing, and painting to weave together his macabre and satirical vision of a world unraveling. Through an intensely obsessive and calculated style, his work attempts to transcend the irony of humanity's parody of itself. His work deviates from the absurdity of utopia, instead the artist is inexorably intertwined within the subject, inviting the viewer to peer a little deeper, a little farther.

DUSK TILL DAWN
Show Dates: extended through August 31st, 2015
SUMMER IN SESSION: Gallery open by Appointment Only
Please join us for Andrea von Bujdoss’s AKA Queen Andrea's solo exhibition, Dusk Till Dawn, opening Thursday, June 18th, 2015 from 6-9pm at AHA Fine Art at 139 Eldridge Street, NYC. Queen Andrea’s solo exhibition Dusk Till Dawn features new paintings inspired by her endless love of geometry, typography and New York City’s horizon.
Along with her typography pieces, this exhibition presents her recent forays into a complex and colorful world of dynamic geometry, as in her piece Red High (shown left), acrylic on canvas. The paintings on display share a common theme of vibrant color and detailed geometric gradations that evoke the subtle, but dramatic color of the sky, transitioning from dawn and dusk and vice-versa. Queen Andrea's use of a multifaceted and innovative color palette is a growing theme in her new compositions, expressed through her boisterous, yet perfectly calculated interplay of color and geometry, her work is reminiscent of 1980's Pop Art graphics and patterns.
Queen Andrea’s new typography paintings feature chiseled and geometric letters spelling out popular hip-hop and pop culture phrases, such as Hustle Hard (shown below), projecting both positivity and personal empowerment.
Queen Andrea is building a reputation as an extremely dedicated and innovative typographist and visual artist. Her recent projects include large-scale murals commissioned by mural programs such as, The LISA Project, Wall Therapy, O'nou Tahiti Graffiti Festival, JMZ Walls, Jersey City Beautification Project, and more. Additionally, Queen Andrea was selected for the prestigious Bonnaroo Music Festival and the historic 191st Street Tunnel Beautification Project in collaboration with The City of New York and the MTA (Mass Transit Authority).
This is Queen Andrea’s second solo exhibition with AHA Fine Art and her fifth solo exhibit in NYC. Queen Andrea is a native New Yorker, raised in SoHo, Manhattan. Queen Andrea has been deeply inspired by the urban landscape from an early age. She paints with some of the most prolific “old school” graffiti writers and actively taught herself graffiti by painting on the streets, on canvas and on paper. Queen Andrea has consistently pursued, for almost twenty years, her graffiti and typography skill-set, which has evolved her graphic style into fine art and a vivid visual vocabulary.

The Job Johnson project is an on-going collection of oral and written stories, family history, and landmarks from central Pennsylvania as told through the drawings done by an alter ego named Job Johnson who lived at the beginning of the Industrial Era. (1860 to 1937)
The project incorporates folklore from a historical first person narrative perspective. These works reflect a need for conservation as well as those tiny, nearly forgotten reminders of Pennsylvania’s multicultural roots. Each drawing that I've made for this project is done on my own hand-made paper framed in hand-built recycled wood frames.

The Newtown Creek Armada
"The Newtown Creek Armada is an art installation that invites the public to explore the past, present and future of a contaminated New York City waterway. The Newtown Creek, a Superfund site bordering Brooklyn and Queens, is one of the most polluted bodies of water in the United States. In September 2012, visitors to The Armada piloted a fleet of artist-made, miniature, remote-controlled boats along the surface of the Newtown Creek while documenting the hidden world of its waters using waterproof video cameras.
The initial public art installation of The Newtown Creek Armada included a fleet of nine boats and three video portholes that transported viewers to voyages filmed in remote areas of the creek: Maspeth Creek, English Kills and Dutch Kills. In 2013 these elements were transformed into a gallery installation, Remote Voyages, which included new voyages filmed by visitors to The Armada. The boats, voyages and portholes of The Armada have been exhibited in numerous galleries, festivals and conferences.
The artists of The Armada have embarked on a series of collaborations since the initial installation. In 2013, they created Gowanus Voyage, a public art event and gallery installation on the Gowanus Canal, Brooklyn’s other Superfunded waterway. Gowanus Voyage was created in partnership with Brooklyn Atlantis, the NYU School of Engineering and Proteus Gowanus. In 2014, the artists curated a group show, Combined Overflow, which brought together 20 projects engaging the Newtown Creek and the Gowanus Canal by artists, scientists and citizens.
The Newtown Creek Armada is a collaboration between artists Laura Chipley, Nathan Kensinger, and Sarah Nelson Wright. The initial installation in 2012 was presented in partnership with the North Brooklyn Public Art Coalition (nbART) and with support from the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the North Brooklyn Boat Club. The Armada has received grants from the Hudson River Foundation, Brooklyn Arts Council, In Our Backyards (ioby), Macktez, and Feast Brooklyn. It has been made possible through the support of many community organizations and individuals."
